3 QUOTES
Assignment: Choose 3 quotes and write a well-developed paragraph explaining and interpreting each of these 3 quotes.

The first quote I chose is number two “Writing a first draft is very much like watching a Polaroid developed. You can’t—and, in fact, you’re not supposed to – know exactly what the picture is going to look like until it has finished developing”. The first reason I chose this quote is because we usually write draft before handing in an essay and I usually think that my essay is not nice but when I am finished the last copy, I usually feel really proud. The second reason I chose this quote is because it gives power to the writers to go on and don’t be disappointed. The last reason that I chose the quote is because there is another quote that I also read is that ‘time is always right to what is time’ and I really believe on it!
The second quote that I used is number 3 “Nothing is as important as a likable narrator. Nothing holds a story together better. I like narrators to be like people I choose for friends, which is to say they have a lot of the same flaws as I do”. The reason I chose this quote is because the author is right. The narrator gives us all the important information about the play and introduces us to the play or the book. I believe that the narrator has to be chosen like as a friend of ours because he has the same flaws. In my opinion that means it is made of you, and can’t do anything more or less than you can.
The third quote and last one that I chose is number five which says “ You want to ask yourself how do your character stand, what do they carry on their pockets, what happens in their faces and to their posture when they are thinking, or happy or afraid”.  The reason I chose this quote is because for me it means that you have to give all the information that you want a character in a book to have and you need to know in order to move to the next chapter. When you read a book you might ask but how did he get there, or how did she take the water and were did she find the food? In order to write a good story you must answer to all the questions that you have as a reader!

Persuasive Paragraph

Persuasive paragraph
                                                 Brand and Non- brand clothes

A lot of people spend their money to buy clothes made by famous designers. But does it really worth the                      oney? Some people believe that it is cool to wear brand names and that everybody would like them as persons                                                                                            because of that. Others that can’t offer the money they say that this is waste of money and that it doesn’t worth. Which one is true? It is said that the non- brand clothes sometimes are really easy to be torn. But in brand clothes if they get dirty and you cannot wash it you for sure isn’t easy to buy a new one, thing that it is easy to do with cheap ones. Sometimes it is better to have both brand and non brand. A lot of people prefer that for different reasons. In my opinion you should buy the brand ones because they are not so easy to worn off but if you can’t afford the money the best solution is to buy the cheap ones. Expensive clothes do not always make people look better. What is important is to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and they represent part of yourself. Clothes are mostly a matter of style and taste but we have to consider if we can afford it or not. Never spend more than what you earn…

My imaginary school essay

My imaginary School
By Despina Katsirouba
Class: 7A
 Date: 11/17/11

A lot of times I dream myself in my imaginary school but I believe it will never become true. There I have real fun with my friends and I have a great time during lessons. My imaginary school would be just like my dreams except I won’t be able to change things whenever I want.  So basically, it would be perfect. It would be a place where I can have fun with my friends, enjoy being there and most of all learn by having fun.
My imaginary school from the outside it would be like modern schools today. It would have the size of a small village so it can have a lot of building that are required and places where we can have fun. It would have a lot of courts for the “sport” people to play and enjoy themselves but also where we can have Physical Education so we don’t have to go to other places and waste our time on the bus. The courts would be basketball, volleyball, touch ball, hand ball, a soccer field and an indoor swimming pool. The school would also have all the buildings, kinder garden, lower, middle and high school) together. I imagine it with a big garden with all kinds of fruits, vegetables and flowers. It would have a big garden where the small kids could play and enjoy themselves. They can also spend their free time there discussing. A big part of the garden would be used to plant fruit, flowers and vegetables and those we can use them for to make our lunches or the cooker that will work in the cantine can use them for to make our sandwiches. The rest of the garden would be a place where we can have animals like insects used in science instead of having them at the lab. At last my imaginary school would have small buildings that could be multiple used. We can have a book shop in one of the small buildings, storage for food and school supplies and a storage for the cleaning supplies. In conclusion, the outside of my imaginary school would be ‘green’, with a lot of courts, plants and small buildings.
The inside of my imaginary school would be really nice, big and fully supplied. All the classrooms would have separately the needed supplies that are required for each lesson. For example, each desk would have its own power plug, we would have a big chalk board, a white board and a smart board so everyone can have access to them at the same time and the science labs would have wash basins for the experiments that require water or for emergency. The school would also have a big library where it will have all kinds of books and for all ages, it will have computers and each class could use the library to discuss or have book presentations. Each school also requires a place where we can have lunch. The perfect place is a cafeteria. We would have lunch, meetings and bake sales. In conclusion in the inside of the school it would have all the needed supplies in each classroom and we would also have a big library and a cafeteria.
My imaginary school would provide extra lessons for each student after school for those who want to learn and improve their skills or even learn new ones.  It would have teachers that can help each child to learn arts like dance, sculpture and visual arts. The teachers also would help some children to improve their fitness and get more sportive. They can have lessons like soccer, basketball and volleyball and other sports. Clubs would also take place there like homework club, help club (god club or something like that) also book club. In conclusion my imaginary school would have experts that will provide help to each child to improve their skills or to learn them things but also to help other people improve their lives.
So my imaginary school with a lot of green are, garden and play ground, it would have all the needed supplies for each classroom and more rooms, library, cafeteria and equipment. At last they will provide help for the people that they need it or want to learn something new for them or want to improve their skills, after school activities.

The Giver- My opinion about the book

Book: The Giver
Author: Lois Lowry
My opinion about the book
Date: 13/1/2012
The book at the beginning it is not really interesting because the author doesn’t give enough information about the year and the place so it is a little bit confusing and a little bit mysterious. Although I like mysteries, this is a different kind because you don’t know in what time of period it is and it has so many modern but also old things that you get confused. Also they leave in a place that they have no weather, they don’t have emotions and feelings and they have so many laws that you must obey but if they seem so not important to us. Another thing is that they can’t see color, thing that I didn’t expect at the beginning.
The beginning of the book made me appreciate all the things we have such as televisions, phones, weather, colors, not that strict rules and we don’t have to work from the age of 12. Also we have our own parents and siblings and we can have as many sisters and brothers and none will tell us anything, we actually know our relatives (grandpa, grandma) and we don’t leave in a world full of lies.
At the middle of the book, we find out at the ceremony of twelve’s that Jonas was chosen/selected to be the Receiver of Memories, I didn’t know at the beginning what that meant because it hasn’t been mentioned at the previous chapters, and it was interesting to read what it actually was.  Then he starts his work and the rules that he have are much different that the other’s job. The fact that he can actually lie now and before was not aloud it was very strange for him but also for the reader that he couldn’t apply for release (that it is actually death) and he can’t take medicines or something to help his pain when it was caused during his work.
At the last part, Jonas wanted to escape and he did but he also took Gabe because the following day she would be released. The first few days planes were searching for him but he was hiding and he transferred memories of cold to Gabe (really weird since a few people have this honor of receiving memories) so he couldn’t be seen in the radars of the planes that found people with the heat of their body. At last I really wanted to know if they finally made it to go to Elsewhere but the author stopped it a little bit suddenly so I really want to know the ending.
At last but not least, I really liked the book from when I read after the middle and I would definitely suggest it at people to read it!

The Training of Dogs and Cats As Pets (paragraph intro)

The Training of Dogs and Cats As Pets
Almost everybody have pets either it is a cat, a dog, a fish or even a pig! Most of the people that choose to have pets they choose to have a dog or a cat for different reasons such as cleaning, training, protection and mostly for company. Some of the families train them good but some of them don’t. Some of the beat them and make them suffer but others have them inside, feeding them and give them love. Why do they do that and why do they make them suffer so much?
